The Amgen Biotech Experience

The Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) Program Phase I Teacher Training commenced with an online welcome meeting held on October 4, 2023. The meeting was attended by a total of 16 teachers from the fields of science, physics, biology, and chemistry. During the meeting, the Program's partners, including Amgen, the Amgen Foundation, METU (Middle East Technical University), and the Development Workshop Cooperative, were introduced. Following the opening speeches by Prof. Dr. Erdinç Çakıroğlu, the Director of METU Center for Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Education (BİLTEMM); Ertan Karabıyık, the Secretary General of the Development Workshop Cooperative; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nilay Keskin Samancı, the Director of the Education Workshop, the ABE Program was introduced. After introducing the members of the ABE Türkiye Project Team, the presentation covered the scope and content of the ABE Program, what ABE Türkiye has accomplished in its first three years, dissemination materials and activities, the schedule of ABE Türkiye Teacher Training, resources prepared for teacher use, communication channels, and the documents required for the Ministry of National Education (MEB) permission application.
