Upcoming Events and Workshops

To be eligible to obtain the lab equipment, reagents and supplies needed to implement the ABE lab curriculum in the classroom, teachers are required to attend one of our teacher training workshops. Our training workshops are free of charge. Upcoming workshops and events are posted below. Abridged Genetic Engineering Sequence PDI for Chaffey Junior Union High School District 

Dates: May 6–7, 2026 | Location: Colony High School | Rooms: TBD

Description: This Professional Development Institute is designed for teachers new to the ABE program as well as veteran ABE teachers who are seeking a refresher to review the biotechnology curriculum for the Abridged Genetic Engineering Sequence (Labs 1, 2A, 4A, 5A, and 6). This workshop is free of charge to all participants. Once trained, ABE teachers can borrow a complete suite of equipment and all reagents and supplies needed to implement the ABE lab curriculum in their classrooms. This event is for Chaffey Junior Union High School District teachers, by invitation only.

 

Abridged Genetic Engineering Sequence PDI for San Bernardino County Teachers 

Dates: June 24–25, 2026 | Location: CSU San Bernardino | Rooms: TBD

Description: This Professional Development Institute is designed for teachers new to the ABE program as well as veteran ABE teachers who are seeking a refresher to review the biotechnology curriculum for the Abridged Genetic Engineering Sequence (Labs 1, 2A, 4A, 5A, and 6). This workshop is free of charge to all participants. Once trained, ABE teachers can borrow a complete suite of equipment and all reagents and supplies needed to implement the ABE lab curriculum in their classrooms. This event is for San Bernardino teachers, by invitation only. 

 

Complete Genetic Engineering Sequence PDI at Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens

Date: July 13-16, 2026 | Location: The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens | Room: Brody Botanical Center

This Professional Development Institute is designed for teachers new to the ABE program as well as veteran ABE teachers. It will cover the Complete Genetic Engineering Sequence (Labs 1 - 6 and Colony PCR). This workshop is free of charge to all participants. Once trained, ABE teachers can borrow a complete suite of equipment and all reagents and supplies needed to implement the ABE lab curriculum in their classrooms. Teachers attending all four days will receive a $200 gift card. Deadline to register is June 22, 2026.
